A Look at Psalm 103: Blessings from God

Image result for restful images   We don't like to think of what our weaknesses are do we?  At least I know I don't, but they are there in front of me, so I cannot deny them. The one thing I struggle with the most, and maybe you do to, is complaining, and lack of gratitude for all God has given.  Maybe the roof leaks, the door jams don't work right, the yard is mess, the washing machine broke, the dishwasher doesn't work, etc.... the lists can go on.  It's easy to focus on the wrong or broken things in our lives and forget that we have more "good" that happens to us than "bad".

The other day as I read Psalm 103 and in those 22 verses I counted at least 16 blessings. 1. He forgives us our sins. 2. He heals all our diseases. 3. He redeems us from destruction. 4.He crowns us with loving-kindness.5. He crowns us with tender mercies. 6. He gives us good things to eat. 7. He renews our strength. 8. He executes righteousness and judgment or the oppressed. 9. He old Moses His ways and guided him by Holy Spirit to record the first 5 books of the Bible. 10. He is slow to anger. 11. He has lots of mercy. 12. He doesn't deal with us according to the way our sins deserve. 13. He removes our sins far away from us. 14. He has pity on us. 15. He remembers our frame, that we are but dust. 16.  His mercy is everlasting.  Have a look and see how many you count.  Then I thought of all the wonderful things he my life that he has given me.  Shelter, a loving husband, children, grandchildren, caring parents and siblings, friends, my breath, and on and on it goes.  How dare I complain?  Then I go to the cross and Christ forgives me.  Then when I am tempted to complain again, he gently reminds me of all I have.

I am still pondering on it.  I thank God that he forgives us our sins.  I am thankful that He gave me His word, so that I am always reminded of His care for me.  Will I always complain?  I hope not. I hope as I grow in Christ, my complaining will grow less and less.  But, comfort comes in knowing that I have a faithful God who forgives me.  Jesus walked through His life without one complaint, and he had plenty he could complain about to be sure, but he didn't. He did that for me. He did that for you.

Whatever you're struggling with take a look at Psalm 103 and then make your own list of blessings.
