New Beginnings

Each new year brings with it so much potential, doesn't it?  It seems like the slate can be wiped clean, and we can begin a fresh start, even without resolutions, which I loathe, the years holds a lot of potential.  It will be what each of us make it, I suppose.

I read a blog where the author wrote a list of things she would like to do in January.  She had a lot she wanted to accomplish, and I commend her for it, but just reading the list wore me out!  But she had a good idea, in that she said when you write down on paper you can check off as accomplished, and then things get done.  So I decided to try her idea, but make the list shorter, smaller bites, so to speak, and perhaps I too can get things done.

Her list motivated me, perhaps something I write, may motivate you.  As Christians, we are here to help one another grow, and I can do that, then I have accomplished one of my long-term goals (note: I see a difference between a goal and a resolution:)

1. Write at least a thousand words on my novel
2. Finish another panel on my quilt I'm piecing
3. Get the body of a sweater knitted
4. Start knitting a pair of socks
5. Label 4 shelves in the church library (I'm the church librarian)
6. Get two people to purchase books from the new Resource Center at our church library
7. Begin work in earnest on the new duo for the violin

Seven is a good number, so I'll stop there.  I didn't write down household chores or Bible reading, because they always come first.  I had friend tell me that I could do more, if I worked smarter on the household chores.  She has a point, because by the time I get the housework done, it's time to plan a meal, and then I never get the stuff done, like quilting, that I really want to do.  Readers, if you have any suggestions about how you do things, I would appreciate the help!

I pray your New Year gets off to a wonderful start!
