End of Another Year

              Time Flies.  Another turn of the calendar page brings another year.  How do we mark time?  Do we mark  it  by our successes or our failures?  Do we mark it by our health or our wealth; how many times we  went to the doctor, or how much we were able to accumulate?  Do we mark it by the number of likes on a Facebook page? Speaking of Facebook and reading some of the postings, 2016 appears to be a bad "time" because of two events: the election of Donald Trump as president and the passing of Princess Leia, in the person of  Carrie Fisher.   Frankly, to me, this seems pure foolishness. Today I read Psalm 119.  This psalm is remarkable for me on many levels most of which would need another blog posting, but in the reading it said that God  controls our days.  He keeps the world  spinning.  God knows all things.  He knew who would be the best president for a...

A Look at Psalm 103: Blessings from God

      We don't like to think of what our weaknesses are do we?  At least I know I don't, but they are there in front of me, so I cannot deny them. The one thing I struggle with the most, and maybe you do to, is complaining, and lack of gratitude for all God has given.  Maybe the roof leaks, the door jams don't work right, the yard is mess, the washing machine broke, the dishwasher doesn't work, etc.... the lists can go on.  It's easy to focus on the wrong or broken things in our lives and forget that we have more "good" that happens to us than "bad".    The other day as I read Psalm 103 and in those 22 verses I counted at least 16 blessings. 1. He forgives us our sins. 2. He heals all our diseases. 3. He redeems us from destruction. 4.He crowns us with loving-kindness.5. He crowns us with tender mercies. 6.
