The 2016 Presidential Election

The 2016 Presidential election has  quite a few Christians in a quandary. Both sides have their problems, and neither side seem like quality candidates.  For the first time, I find myself wondering not can I vote, but should I vote. Then someone made me see that throughout history, we have had very few true "Christian" leaders.  It has always been the case of choosing between the lesser of two evils.  Each one of us has to decide what values  do  we hold  most dear and which candidate upholds closer to those values.

Why are we so flummoxed? Could it be we've had freedom from persecution so long that the thought of the possibility that soon we could be facing it troubles us?  I heard one person say, "I  can't see God in this election." That troubled me.  Have we forgotten  that it is God, Himself, who sets  authority over us in the first place?  Have we  become so enamored  with our gadgets and  toys that we've set aside time for the Word of God.  When  has God ever not taken care of His church?

Perhaps this election will draw us to Christ.  Pray for wisdom when we vote, trusting Jesus to give us the person that we need. It may not be the one we want, but it will certainly be the one we need.

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Romans 13:1
