Handling Disappointments

My  mother told me that when she was a little girl, she walked into her mother's kitchen and said, "Nothing sad or disappointing should happen during Christmas."  I agree, and yet disappointing things happen and somehow they seem worse during the Christmas season, don't they?

So today when I received some disappointing news, my first reaction was not godly. I pouted, until the Lord got hold of me and I saw things in clearer perspective. His plans are perfect, and it is hard for me to always see that, but they are, because His word says so, and God cannot lie.  Comforting, isn't it?  I had to flee to his Word for comfort, and Hebrews 12:1 became my comfort."Wherefore seeing we also are compassed  about with so great a cloud of witnesses let us lay aside every weight ,and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us."  The Bible tells me that anything not of faith is sin, and I wonder if lack of faith and trust in Jesus besets me so easily. I got hold of God's Word, and God got hold of me!

I made a cup of Joy tea, and  worked on some projects for Christmas, and the disappointment fled away.

I think later I shall make some chocolate pudding.  Here is the recipe I shall use

2 cups milk
3 egg yolks
1 and a half cups sugar
1/3 -1/2 cups cocoa
1/4 cup cornstarch
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla

Heat 1 1/2 cups milk in medium saucepan. Mix remaining 1/2 cup milk with egg yolks; add sugar, cocoa, cornstarch, and salt . Combine with hot milk and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until thickened,  Remove from heat and add vanilla.  Enjoy the pudding!

After I come home from the women's Christmas party at church, I will curl up with my Christmas mystery book, have tea and pudding and unwind from the day.  God is good to me!
