Differences Between Grandpa and Grandma

While shopping today in Texas, I happened to see three different sets of grandparents out shopping.  I really wasn't eavesdropping but standing very near to where the grandparents stood.  The first set I met stood by a barrel of stuffed Angry Birds.  Grandma picked up one and said, "Oh, look, Bobby would love this. He loves that game."  Grandpa replied with, "It's just not worth $5.99, and Bobby will play with for about 5 minutes and that's it."  I chuckled, to myself of course.  Grandma reluctantly put the Angry Bird down, but gave an angry glance at her own "bird"

Later, at the school supply center, I encountered the second set of grandparents.  Grandma looked at a lighted globe. As she looked at it, she said to Grandpa, "Oh, Doro would love this, and you know how it would help her at school."

"How much is it?"

"$45.00"

"What?  I ain't payin $45 for a globe that light up, when her dad can get it for it.  What she needs is a good dictionary, the girl can't spell."

"Oh, Harold, all you think of is money.  What about your grandchildren?"

I saw an argument coming on, I moved away. I don't know if Doro got her lighted globe or not.

The last set of grandparents that I ran into was the clothing part of the store.  Grandma looked through little girl dresses.  Grandpa looked at his watch.  "How much longer, Vera? I got things I want to do at home."

"Not much longer, but the girls are coming over tomorrow, and I want to have something for them.  Do you like these dresses?"

Grandpa, not looking at the dresses, said, "Yeah, how much are they?"

"Oh, they are on sale.  I can get three dress for $40, of course I would have to buy a fourth, because if I give Allison two, I would have to get two for Haley."

"Why?"  They need to learn they all can't have the same stuff.  We didn't raise our kids that way, why should we treat them any differently?

I don't think Grandpa should have said that, because Grandma nearly came unglued.  I didn't hear all of what she said, but she ended with, "Next time I go shopping, I'm not going with you."

Grandpa, quite relieved said, "Good, let's go home."

I believe the grandfathers loved their grandchildren as much as the grandmothers did, but men view the world differently from women.  I just thought it was rather funny to see three different grandparents on the same day, and all the men seemed to act the same!

Oh, as for my husband, he picked out two postcards for our grandchildren.  He's thinking about them and spending money!   I have a winner!! : )
