New Beginnings old and Remembered

Today my daughter, Jayne, graduated from the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona.  Today she embarks on a new beginning to her life.  She leaves behind the comfort of a routine she has known for these last several years.  She faces a world that will be new, one that won't always be friendly or comfortable or inviting.  She faces new fears, the fear finding a job in a market that is competitive and challenging.  Six hundred others of her fellow graduates from this college are facing the same thing, and the job market is weak.  Will she find work? What kind of work?  Will she make enough money? All these are questions I have heard her ask, and I don't have pat answers for her, but I know that God will guide her in her future as he has guided her in her past.  He will not leave her nor forsake her all these are promises that God makes, and God is not a man that he should lie. He keeps all of His promises.  I am confident tha...

Top Ten Ways to Know You are Getting Older

Late last evening I was bored and so alleviate some boredom, I sat thinking of ways a woman can know she's aging. Some of these things have happened to me, and some to friends.  So, here is my list that I composed..enjoy, it is meant to be funny. 10.You know you are getting older, when your new doctor is younger than you. 9. You stop by the cosmetics department to purchase the same brand of make-up you have always used, when the clerk says, "We have a wonderful new line for the more mature skin." 8. The grocery boy at the supermarket asks if he can carry your one bag to the car, and you know any 5 year old could carry it. 7.  You walk to the mailbox to post a letter, when the new neighbor's child calls out, "Hi, Grandma." 6.  You are Christmas shopping for your children and the twenty-something young lady checking you out says, "Oh, buying for the grand kids, I see." 5.   You go to the movies and are asked, "Would you like the senior ti...

Streams of thoughts

My days have been quite busy recently, but I am not sure if the busyness has produced much fruit in things accomplished.  Have you had days like that?  Part of my busyness comes in preparing to celebrate Jayne's graduation from the University.  This is a major accomplishment  and should be celebrated properly.  Yesterday we went to a senior celebration lunch and I met one of Jayne's professors, and how wonderful to hear that she sees in Jayne all that we, her family, sees.  I take  some mother pride in this---a fruit of parenting. : ) Some busyness doesn't always show itself productive right away.  I have done some research on the quiverful movement and the daughters at home movement. Research takes time, and  I will report my findings here later.  Perhaps this latest venture is a product of my getting sidetracked.  It came about because of a new friend I have made, and I realized that we could have been headed down a si...
