In Knitting God taught Me a Lesson
My husband reminded me it's easier to quit than to press forward. He referred to a spiritual matter we had discussed earlier, but said right at that moment of my frustration I got to thinking about life in general. So often we have struggles, trials, and burdens in this life, and we think, it isn't fair, does God really love me? Pastor asked an interesting question on Sunday, "When life's going well, do we ever ask God, 'do you love me'?" So, why do we ask it in trials? Of course He loves us. It's in the trials of life that we see how He carries us through. It's easy to give up, not read our Bibles, not pray, not go to church, but that's just what the devil wants us to do. I had to ask myself, am I a quitter? I can be. I usually want what's easy, but I guess most of us do. If we quit on the little things, like knitting a sock, will we quit on the bigger things of life, like health or money worries?
God loves us and cares about every detail of our lives, even knitting a pair of socks. Saying a quick prayer asking for wisdom, I turn to the sock and stare at it. Finally I got an idea of how I could pick up the one dropped stitch. It took a while, but I got it done.
