Psalm 139:`

I love Psalm 139; what a marvelous prayer David prayed, and we can pray it too!  In just the first verse alone we learn so very much.  O LORD, thou hast searched me and known me.  It shows the omnimpotence of God.  He is all knowing.  Nothing is hidden from him; he knows us.  It is a personal kind of knowing. God knows us personally; He knows me.  He knows the number of hairs on my head, he knows all the little details about me, and when we read/pray on, we see he knows when we rise, when we sit, and he knows our thoughts.  God knows me!  God knows you too!  Isn't that wonderful and encouraging.  He is a personal God.  He cares for us. Remember the priests of Baal on Mount Carmel, who tried slashing their skin to get the attention of their false god?  Our Heavenly Father knows us and He cares for us; He loves us so much that He sent His son, is only begotten son, Jesus, to die for us in our place.

He seaches us.  "Thou hast searched me.."  He seeks us out. We don't read about our searching God out to find a way to reach Him.  He searches us.  I find a twofold meaning here. He reaches out to save me; not because of anything good in me.  He sought me out and gave me faith to believe.  I also see here searched to mean a thorough looking over.  He knows me and in spite of all the sin and junk in my life, he loves me and finds something in me worth knowing, worth saving. Does that encourage you?  It certainly does me.

In just that one verse, the LORD shows us so very much.  How great is our God!  I love to pray this verse as David did, for in doing so, I gain encouragement.

I pray for you too, Dear Reader, to know how much the Lord Jesus Christ loves you.
