More Frustration
Dealing with people who do not know how to do business frustrates me. One of our sons is at a university in Texas. In August we went with him to the bank and cosigned for him to get a student loan for one year. The goal was to have the loan pay for his first year, and then use scholarships, and work to pay for the rest of his years. This was supposed to be easy. Our daughter got a school loan last year. The bank sent her school the money, and the school sent our daughter a check for the left over part of the loan so that our daughter could buy books, get housing etc. Easy. Within the first two or three weeks of school, all was taken care of.
I don't know if it is Texas itself that is slow, but our son has not received any money. He had put the first semester on his credit card, which is now maxed out, and we are paying for housing. We are glad to help our son, so I am not complaining about that, but dealing with the school is a nightmare. The school first said we had not filled out the forms correctly. Okay, so we refile the forms. Then they said that the bank had not sent the money. Upon calling the bank, they say the school never sent the request. Our son goes back to financial aid, and they say they will submit the work and in two weeks, a middle-man company would have the money, and the middle-man company would send the funds. Two weeks pass, and no money. Son places a call the middle-man company and they say he has to send a request saying he wants the money to go directly into his account. Done.
October comes, and still no money, so another call is placed to school. Money will be in said account by November 8th or 9th. It is the seventeenth and still no money. The second semester looms and no sign of any loan money. My husband calls the bank, yet even though we co-signed the loan, we cannot inquire about said money because we are not said student. We tell the bank we have the said student's social security number and the loan number, but said student must call. Said student calls, and the bank says the school did send a request for money, but the school sent two different amounts, and bank does not know which amount to pay.
Said student must now go back to financial aid to request that they, the school, call the bank to let them know which amount they want. If not mother of said student will call said school and become irate. What is that saying about hell having no fury like a frustrated woman?
Now this Texas school is not nearly as large as the Arizona school where our daughter attended. Is something wrong with this school?. The professors are great and the department the said son is in is a great department, but financial aid has its headquarters where its hindquarters should be. Maybe said son should call Texas governor...it is an election year. Hummm
