Joy of Creation

My daughter took this picture last evening.  Do you see the heart? What joy she had taking it.  There in the Tucson sky stood a lovely heart surrounded by clouds.  I thought that God must delight in showing us His creativity!

I suppose some might say that happenstance caused it, but I don't; I think God delights in it. I think He teaches us things in nature, if we look.  The first thing I thought of when Jayne showed me this photo was  God's love.  When we write notes, don't we use hearts as a symbol of our love?  Cool, I think.

We have a one-legged quail that comes to feast on our grain. I find him amazing.  He comes each morning and evening, and each time I see him, I think, you survived another day.  One might think it easy prey for the hawks we have, but he comes and eats and drinks and goes away with the rest of the quail in his group. The Lord uses this bird to remind me that God cares for sparrows, and yes, quail, so how much more does he care for me?  He loves me.  He loves you.  "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish, but have ever lasting life." John 3:16.

Kinda wonderful, I think.

The Patience of Job

My husband has the patience of Job; and  when it comes to me,  I think I require a lot of patience.  Yesterday, when I went to work on my quilt, I discovered the sewing machine did not work. When I plugged in the foot pedal cord to my Bernina, it just would not move the machine.  I had some trouble with this in the past, but if I jiggled the cord, it would usually go.  I worked at for about five minutes, and then I got my husband.  He can fix anything!  He came into the room, and he tried, and nothing happened, so he said, "Let's just take it the Bernina store and get it fixed."   So, off we went with foot pedal and book about my particular Bernina machine in tow.  We live in the country and everything is at least 30 or more minutes away from us.  We arrive at the store and the gal plugs my foot pedal into one of the machines there, and it worked perfectly.  I felt pretty silly, but my husband thought that meant the machine its...

Never Surrender to Doubt: Keep Praying

                  Recently, some friends of mine have been going through a time of tremendous trials.  One of them asked me in tears, "Is God listening?  I've called out to Him so many times for answers and I am waiting for clarity, but nothing is clear. "  I had no ready answers.  When my friend called me, I just returned  to another friend's home after the funeral of her mother.  I had  come from a service where the message was about victory and hope, and yet I was at a loss for words for the tears coming forth from this person.  I simply said, "God knows what you and I do not.  We have to trust."  I had my own doubts, but how could I share that?  What comfort can be found in the words, "I don't know?"  Yet God does know.  How could I tell my friend that I too had called out for help, and didn't feel I had clarity?            This morning the Lo...

An Addendum to Yesterday's Post

                                      Dear Reader, There is one book that I forgot to add yesterday.  If you enjoy history, then you will enjoy Silent Night by Stanley Weintraub.  It is the true account of one Christmas Eve during World War I when the soldiers on both sides took a holiday.  They stopped fighting and had a truce. It began when German soldiers had Christmas trees and put small candles on them, and the British, French, and Belgian troops serenaded each other, and even the German troops joined in.  As the solemness of Christmas broke out among them, they broke bread, exchanged small gifts and stopped the awful war for one brief moment in time.  When the angry superiors ordered them to shoot each other, they shot their guns in the air instead.  The soldiers had...
